Fresh flowers

blommor_fr_mia

I got a bunch of flowers from a very good friend this weekend. They have been standing in a vase on my kitchen table now for two days, mocking me with their impossible shapes. I couldn´t help giving them a try, even though I think flowers (and cars) are the most difficult subjects to draw.

New here?  Don´t hesitate to sign up as a follower, or leave a comment, or check out the Pink sketchbook that I just added on the sketchbook page!

12,5 x 17 cm, Lamy Safaris with Noodler´s Lexington Gray and Fox Red ink, pencil and watercolours, on obscure brand of drawing paper in a sketchbook.

You did manage these “impossible shapes” quite well. Lovely flowers to keep bright colours at home!

    Is almost poetry!

  4. @René: SHE still is a very good friend, yes, and has been since I was nine. ;)
And, I never thought of it as poetry, but now that you mention it – with all the pens, inks and colours… Yeah. Poetry. :)

Magnificent! Along with capturing the “impossible” shapes you made exquisite color choices — I love this!

  6. Love the negatives and positives! Great job! I agree with you about drawing cars but I don’t feel that way about flowers!

I totally agree with you on flowers and cars being hardest things to put on paper and still look good. :) But you’ve done a magnificent job with this one, and I really love the different outlines with different colors!

  8. I love the variety of ink against the monotone background. Great flowers, of course. The images on your new site really sparkle on my screen, Nina.

This is wonderful, Nina, but I have to say that what bowled me over was flipping through your pink sketchbook! WOW! Remarkable. Reminds me that I need to go practice!! ;)

  10. Loose and lovely and fresh! They look so free and fresh. And I love the shadows.

  14. Älskade den rosa skissboken, Wordpress verkar bra mycket bättre än blogger

These flowers are gorgeous. You have painted them so beautifully. I love the colors and the filling of the space and arrangement of them. Very nicely done.

Tried to become a follower and for some reason, it seems, the feed or whatever it does is not working. Had you in my google reader and trying not to “loose” you! I remember “meeting” you in an Illustrator forum a long time ago and was really happy when I happened across your own artwork!

  17. Lovely, just lovely. I really like how you used more than one color of ink. And now these flowers will live on forever in your journal.

  18. Nina, hi there again. I´ve had a look over your site, and got completely fascinated with your talent. Loved the sketchbooks. Please upload some more soon. They are amazing! Wish some day I could have the oportunity to be your student! You´ve got a fan, my dear! Your paintings made my today a better day! Thanks for sharing!

  19. LOVE your flowers and the interpretation, mix of media and looseness!!
