Dubious life drawing
A funny thing happened Monday evening. I went to a life drawing session again (lots of nudes here lately!) but Lo and behold! – I forgot to bring paper! Luckily, my friend Lisa was there and she gave me some papers from her pad, plus I had my little sketchbook with me. I´m anxious to fill the last few pages in the book (I have a new one waiting), so I drew several five-minute poses on this spread. The drawings are not that great (I hate drawing small when drawing from life) but I think they made a pretty decent spread in the end.
Anyway, when I came home, I told my dear M about my silly absent-mindedness. His comment was: “Nina, isn´t it a bit suspicious to attend a life drawing session without paper?”
Well, when you put it that way…
20,5 x 17 cm, Lamy Safari with Noodler´s Lexington Gray ink and watercolours on dodgy brand of drawing paper in a sketchbook.

Thank sure is a funny scenario ^^ I am glad you were able to sketch still because the result is simply fantastic! I am imagining 5 minute sketch for each…that’s really some SPEED! I am wondering though, how many nude models were there? Maybe it pays really well to be one
LOL! The drawings turned out great!
Thank goodness for artist friends! Once again, I am awed by your drawings, especially for 5 minute sketches! I’m still learning to draw beyond the gesture sketch for 5 minute poses. These are great!
Wonderful page, the poses look fabulous with the patterned background.
LOL–that’s a riot! good point, now! But I love the spread you came up with–beautiful, Nina! You have me smiling big time now.
Love this grouping of images, carrying a powerful composition and palette so successfully. Want to add that I also enjoyed seeing the very expressive sketch of a model’s face, and your lillies. A pleasure to visit.
Thanks for having your sketchbook!
Nina, enjoyed your sketches and your story.
Pssst..a secret..I was in a life drawing class once years ago. Loved it. I brought home a pastel drawing with fiery color on and around the female nude model. My jealous young wife insisted that I quit. It was early in our marriage, so I listened – what could I do? Now, if I had brought home your drawing that night..I’d be divorced!
LOL – reminds me of a couple of old curmudgeons that had been invited to the life drawing group of our local art society. They were members of a senior citizen’s painting club, but they always arrived without supplies, because they wanted to “watch the artists at work.” I suspect they were watching something else entirely. (BTW, I love this page!)
Actually, I did that once, but I wasn’t planning to stay – and all I had to draw with was an Ikea pencil! My friends bailed me out too!
I love the way you’ve done the background on this, Nina!
He he that’s funny! You did SO well,(how else) even on borrowed paper!

You made a great journal page out of your sketches. I enjoyed my biggest moment of humor today reading this post. You can never have enough humor.
I am so in love with your art! Fabulous stuff!
