Walking on air

doc_martens

Drawing the dogs the other day made me feel like doing some more crosshatching. Gave it a try with my new Dr Martens. Difficult to do the jet black leather when you´re drawing with a grey pen, though.

EDIT: I just noticed I wrote October 2 on this drawing… Well, time flies. Faster than my brain, which is obviously still in October.

17 x 13 cm, Lamy Safari with Noodler´s Lexington Grey ink on sketchbook page.

  1. As always, I love it! You even got the “teeth” of the soles in there! And the grey pen doesn’t read as grey on my monitor. It looks black to me…

Beautifully done, as always. I read a quote recently, attributed to R. Crumb, “Drawing is just an excuse to crosshatch”.

I just feel I could put them on right away,, they look so real ! I find it difficult and long to crosshatch when the colour is black! Great sketch again!

Excellent. In my next life, I want to be able to draw as well as you…..

I always learn so much from your posts… composition, reflection, and your handling of line directions and techniques all of which work together to convey different textures of leather, fabric, and rubber. An art lesson… thank you.
