Rome I
We went to Rome for a week to get a taste of spring. End of February is when you start craving spring in Stockholm, so Rome seemed like a perfect choice. We got some really warm and sunny days, and didn´t get any of the horrible storm over Europe. (Click the images for a larger view.)
My baggage got lost during the flight, though, and when I got it back after four days all my make-up (not that much, but still) and my Noodler´s Lexington Grey ink was gone. I can understand the ink, but I´m still wondering who took my old make-up…
17 x 20 cm, Lamy Safari with Noodler´s Lexington Grey ink and watercolours on Fabriano Rosapina paper (sketchbook pages).

Simply awesome!
The perspective in the drawing of the plane is so good. Like the statue shading. The make-up went to someone who didn’t know the good stuff from the bad.
Oooh, sunny Rome. What a wonderful treat. Your drawings are really wonderful – great perspective, shading, and choice of subjects. nancy
Thank you for sharing these fantastic sketches. I appreciate that you described the tools that you used as well. I am looking forward to seeing more of your sketches of Rome.
oh, sorry to hear about your luggage, that’s annoying… beautiful sketches though, I too am looking forward to seeing more
… great window details and shadows!
Lovely sketches, I really like the colours in the bottle and lettering! I wish I could speak Swedish – did your luggage go to Geneva? I didn’t take your make-up honestly! Can’t get Noodlers ink here, I’d certainly be tempted by that!
You´re right, Felicity, the luggage was somehow sent to Geneva – I think you do know some Swedish after all!
As soon as I got home, I went to the only store in Stockholm that sells Noodler´s ink, and bought their last bottle of Lexington Grey, so now I´m good again.
Oh how we loved Rome, enjoy the sun and I hope you thaw out. I love your sketches, I loved the time I had to sketch while there. What a contrast from the cold sketch below!
Thanks, Desiree. Yes it WAS a big contrast to the temperature and weather in Stockholm – which was of course the plan all along. We really needed a touch of spring!
Oh- to jet off to Rome for a bit of spring – Lovely dream for me – and yes makeup missing is strange, perhaps it seemed suspicious! Your sketches are grand impressions of the break!
“Because drawing is good for you” Love, Love Love this!
Lovely sketches. I also like your previous snow sketch. Good art both.
Lovely sketches! Enjoy Rome!
After your last post of snow, I can see why you needed to get away. Great sketchbook pages.
Wonderfufl sketches – looks much warmer than your last page!
Great sketches! I wouldn’t ponder too much on who took your old make up. That might give you nightmares! lol! Love looking at these sketches. Nicely done.
Beautiful drawing. A real inspiration.
Beautiful spread.
