Rome II

rome_3

Another drawing from Rome. Top left is not my work, it´s a ticket to the old Fori Imperiali (don´t know if that´s grammatically correct, but you know the area I´m talking about). Goodlooking, though. :)

17 x 20 cm, Lamy Safari with Noodler´s Lexington grey ink and watercolours on Fabriano Rosapina paper (sketchbook page).

  1. Such wonderful watercolors. And I always enjoy seeing the world through others drawings.

These are just lovely and so well done! They’re interesting, the colors are so warm, and the perspective on the spoon is right on! Oh, how I’d love to go to Rome! nancy

I love the rows of windows!

Great job. I think travel journals are so much more fun than a phot album or scrapbook. Can’t wait to see more.

  5. I can almost taste the delicious cappuccino! All the sketches are beautifully done but I especially like the last one of the 3 windows down to the detail of the sky and opposite buildings reflected in the windows.

Really beautiful. I love that you take a small detail and make such a wonderful drawing out of it, it reminds me not to overthink and get overwhelmed. The lights in the windows are so lovely against the warm colours of the walls.

  7. Love the architecture and the tea cup- both of which are some of my favorite things. Good art.

Lovely journal page! The colors are so warm and sunny, and the cup is just begging to be sipped from. The inclusion of the ticket is a great touch.

Nice sketches. Love the rows of windows.

Beautiful work, Nina. I especially love the patch of blue reflected in the windows. Sunny and warm – just what I needed since the weather here has gone cold again recently.

  11. Louise says:

Captivating as always, Nina! You somehow manage to mix some really rich colours. I’m enjoying your Rome :)

Nina-I have made travel journals on a couple of trips but am still working to get it right, and I admire your Rome pages. You’ve given me several good ideas. What kind of paper are you using? And what type of pen? Your way of using small details to really capture the feeling of the place and time are quite remarkable-makes me feel as though I’m in Rome for a few minutes as I sit here! Thank you for sharing.

    • Thank you, Janice. Right now I´m drawing on Fabriano Rosapina paper, and the pen in this case is a Lamy Safari with Noodler´s Lexington Grey ink. If you look closely, there is always a little note at the bottom of every post with measurements and materials used for my drawings. :)

Fori imperiali is correct. I love your windows and shutters. So Roman.
