Café in the rain
Finally a drawing! My hands and mind have been itching to draw for quite a while. All this painting business lately has severely limited my drawing time, and the sketchbook is screaming for attention. Spending some time in a café with a friend was the perfect pastime this rainy day, and it also gave me the chance to finally sit down and draw somewhere away from home. Oh joy! : )
15 x 18 cm, Lamy Safari with Noodler´s Lexington Grey ink and watercolours on Fabriano Rosapina paper (sketchbook page).

I love it. You’re amazing, Nina!
I know the feeling of wanting to just sketch and having no time to do so. I am glad you were able to get out today and do so. what a beautiful sketch!!!
And a wonderful drawing it is too! I feel the joy.
Jösses, you´re great at this Nina!
Love how you´ve captured his lonesome posture.
Thank you, snällarara AnnaKarin! : )
Nina, I found your website through the EDM group. What a great drawing. I like the feeling of wistfulness and also gaiety, through the color palette. Thanks for sharing.
This is just marvelous! I love the colors, the composition, and the pose of the man. All I can say is, “wow”!! nancy
Oh, I love this. I am with Nancy, WOW!
Beautifully done, as usual. Thank you for listing the materials you used.
Outstanding!
This is wonderful. Love the composition and the colors! I am curious what inspired the vertical box? Was there something in the interior architecture, or do you always think graphically as you sketch?
Thank you, Raena! The vertical box is really just the space between the two turquoise pillars standing on either side of the bar. The pillars are of course longer, but I chose to let them end where I wanted the picture ‘frame’ to be. I wanted the tops of the bottles to fit into the drawing, so I let them stick up a bit longer. Nothing I planned, just a little ‘design problem’ that I tried to solve along the way. : )
Great to see the final drawing! You have really captured the mood in the café.
Carina
Great slouchy posture with his leg on the chair. The colours are so crisp and clear. It sounds as though you really enjoyed your day out
