Stained-glass windows

stained_glass_window

Another one of those mind-bending drawings you can do in Sagrada Família. Looking at these windows from afar, they are incredibly beautiful, like stained-glass windows usually are. But when you walk up and stand below them, and you start seeing all those lines in their setting, again it is like nothing else I have seen. It is like the glass is melting into the stone around it, in a very soft and organic way. It feels like an impossible thing, since stone and glass are such different materials, but they somehow seem to be one and the same thing here. Pure poetry.

24 x 16 cm, pink pencil, UniPin ink pen and watercolours on Somerset 250 gsm printing paper.
