Sketchcrawl no. 31

sketchcrawl31_01

April 16 was the 31st International Sketchcrawl day, and I had the opportunity to meet up with Kim, Charlotte and Johanna at Medborgarplatsen in Stockholm. None of us had met before, so it was a new combination of sketchers heading out on this day. We sketched for a while at Katarina Bangata, then went on to Nytorget, where there was a tiny flea market going on. Lots of people out, since it was a sunny day, and every seat taken on every pavement café along the way… An incredibly fun day, with lots of sketching and great company!

your work is amazing, nina. and you also seem to push yourself to try new approaches or angles.

  4. Delightful sketches, Nina. I like how your use of white spaces adds contrast, plus the reflection of the building on the car window is great! Great job on the people too.

  5. Ursula says:

I love your drawings so much. The way you mix areas of color with areas left white is just great.

  6. Sandra says:

  7. Erik says:

Very nice survey of people and places

  8. Kate says:

Beautiful sketches. What kind of pen do you use? Loved the splashes of color in the sketches although I have to admit there were a few that I wanted everything to be colored!
    Aloha, Kate

  11. You make it all look so effortless. I love your selective use of color.

  12. Michael says:

Lovely work, Nina. Your composition is very good, there are lots of interesting details and your colours are vibrant.
A small question: Do you colour while sketching or do you do it afterwards?
I look forward to more of your sketchcrawling!

  13. Thank you so much for your comments, I appreciate them all!
@José: Yes, see you in Lisbon, it will be a blast. :)
@Michael: Thanks! I prefer colouring while out sketching, but I do sometimes finish it when I get home (sometimes due to weather or temperature). But I don´t really enjoy it as much then, I like to be done with the sketch when I get home.

  14. Jättefina skisser hoppas jag kan hänga på nästa gången, vädret var ju underbart

These are such excellent sketches!! I especially like the man on the bench, such a feel to that one. I admire your ability to choose parts of the picture to color to great effect. I have yet to have the courage to do that!

Very nice work! Great sketches. The effect of combining painted areas with unpainted areas is amazing.
