Lillies

bd_flowers_131016

Got a fantastic bouquet of lillies from my niece and nephew two weeks ago, and they grew so big in the end that they filled the kitchen window. I had to draw them before throwing them out – as usual with flowers, they were most interesting to draw just before they withered away completely.

I noticed there is a bit of show-through from the drawing on the left page here, I should have put some extra paper behind the page when I scanned…

27 x 21,5 cm, Namiki Falcon with Platinum Carbon ink, and Copic Multiliner SPs and watercolours on Stillman & Birn Alpha series sketchbook spread.

Just beautiful! No other word for it. Using different colours for different layers just makes it ring. :)

  2. Hey Nina, your drawings are very inspiring. It makes me want to go back and draw those lilies which are even more withered now!!

    • Hey Roísín, I loved your drawing/painting of them as well! I always find lillies (and tulips and a couple of others too) most fun to draw when they are beginning to whither away. They get such interesting twisting shapes. :)

WOW I love these lillies! And the colors… so graphic and pure!
